Bicycle Safety Week 2013: ‘Be a Hero – Wear Your Helmet’
May 13 – 19, 2013

To reduce the risk of cycling-related head and brain injuries a properly fitted helmet should always be worn when riding a bicycle or other wheels.

Helmets are designed to protect against one impact. Bicycle helmets must be replaced after a crash. Even if a helmet does not appear to be deformed or broken, it will lose its protective value after a crash due to compression of the material.
